Thank you to all who have served!

Nov. 11 is Veterans Day. It is a day set aside by the federal government to honor those that have served or are currently serving in the United States Military.

Veterans Day is intended to thank and honor all those who served honorably in the armed forces during wartime and/or peacetime. It is also largely intended to thank living veterans for their service, to acknowledge that their contributions to our national security are appreciated, and to underscore the fact all those who served have sacrificed and done their duty. We are grateful.

It's a perfect storm, like everyone else, we are facing increased costs for everything from lights and heat, to food for the kids, and now SNAP benefits have lapsed., leaving local families facing empty cupboards. Can you give something today to ensure that the Boys & Girls Club of Cape Cod can continue to provide a safe place for kids while their parents work as well as support our children facing food insecurity? You can donate securely online here:

As SNAP benefits lapse, millions of parents are struggling to put food on the table — and children will be feeling it most. At the Boys & Girls Club we see the impact every day. Nearly 60% of our Cape Cod Boys & Girls Club kids would qualify for free or reduced-price lunch at school, which is the federal poverty guideline. And now, with fewer resources at home, food outside of school lunch Isn't guaranteed. That’s one reason why we need your support.

Last year, Boys & Girls Clubs nationwide provided 80 million meals and snacks at no cost to kid and here on the Cape, we joined in that effort by providing 22,833 free snacks or meals. But as more families lose access to SNAP benefits, demand is growing faster than ever — and we need your help to fill the gap.

We have applied for a grant to help but won't hear if we are getting it for a while. Currently, we give every child a snack as they walk in our door - and on Monday, Tuesday and Friday evenings we provide free meals for our teens because their program runs until 8 or 10 at night.

We want to make sure that those snacks and meals provide the calories and nutrition our kids need, especially since their next meal might not be until they get back into school the following day.

Even better, unlike when you give to our national organization, BGCA, EVERY cent you give STAYS RIGHT HERE on Cape Cod and benefits Cape Cod kids! Thank you.
